Let’s start with the major Asian stock markets, where we saw a mixed day:

  • NIKKEI 225 closed
  • Shanghai increased 2.72 points or 0.09% to 2,974.01
  • Hang Seng decreased 277.44 points or -1.52% to 18,015.94
  • ASX 200 increased 58.30 points or 0.73% to 8,017.60
  • KOSPI increased 3.92 points or 0.14% to 2,860.92
  • SENSEX increased 145.52 points or 0.18% to 80,664.86
  • Nifty50 increased 84.55 points or 0.35% to 24,586.70

 

 

Turning to the major Asian currency markets, we also saw a mixed day:

  • AUDUSD decreased 0.00262 or -0.39% to 0.67575
  • NZDUSD decreased 0.00427 or -0.70% to 0.60748
  • USDJPY increased 0.077 or 0.05% to 157.937
  • USDCNY increased 0.00345 or 0.05% to 7.27413

Looking at precious metals, Gold increased while Silver decreased:

  •  Gold increased 10.55 USD/t oz. or 0.44% to 2,421.66
  •  Silver decreased 0.092 USD/t. oz. or -0.30% to 30.684

 

EUROPE/EMEA:

In Europe, the major stock markets experienced a negative day:

  •  CAC 40 decreased 91.61 points or -1.19% to 7,632.71
  •  FTSE 100 decreased 69.95 points or -0.85% to 8,182.96
  •  DAX 30 decreased 157.29 points or -0.84% to 18,590.89

 

Meanwhile, the major Europe currency markets had a mixed day:

  • EURUSD decreased 0.00126 or -0.12% to 1.08937
  • GBPUSD decreased 0.00234 or -0.18% to 1.29644
  • USDCHF increased 0.00172 or 0.19% to 0.89594

 

US/AMERICAS:

In the US, we saw the following market closings:

  • Dow advanced 210.82 points to 40,211.72
  • S&P 500  advanced 15.87 points or 0.28% to 5,631.22
  • Nasdaq advanced 74.12 points or 0.4% to 18,4712.57
  • Russell 2000 advanced 38.76 points or 1.8% to 2,187.02

 

Canada and Brazil also saw positive market closings:

  • TSX Composite advanced 78.16 points or 0.34% to 22,751.68
  • Bovespa advanced 423.98 points or 0.33% to 1,355.78

 

ENERGY:

 

As for the energy markets, we observed a mixed day:

  •  Crude Oil decreased 0.418 USD/BBL or -0.51% to 81.792
  •  Brent decreased 0.319 USD/BBL or -0.37% to 84.712
  •  Natural gas decreased 0.1406 USD/MMBtu or -6.04% to 2.1884
  •  Gasoline decreased 0.0213 USD/GAL or -0.85% to 2.4841
  •  Heating oil increased 0.0044 USD/GAL or 0.18% to 2.5105

 

Top commodity gainers included Lumber, Cotton, Cocoa, and Sugar, while top commodity losers were Corn, Coffee, Wheat, and Natural Gas.

BONDS:

 

Looking at bond yields, here are the latest numbers:

Japan 1.0500%, US 2’s 4.46%, US 10’s 4.228%, US 30’s 4.46%, Bunds 2.4790%, France 3.114%, Italy 3.749%, Turkey 25.98%, Greece 3.416%, Portugal 3.055%, Spain 3.240%, and UK Gilts 4.104%
