Let’s start with Asia, where the major stock markets had a mixed day. The NIKKEI 225 decreased by 0.19%, while Shanghai and Hang Seng saw increases. In the currency markets, there was a mixed day as well, with AUDUSD and NZDUSD decreasing, while USDJPY and USDCNY increased.
Moving on to precious metals, gold decreased by 0.15% and silver by 1.48%. In Europe/EMEA, major stock markets experienced a negative day, with CAC 40, FTSE 100, and DAX 30 all seeing declines. The currency markets in Europe had a mixed day, with changes in EURUSD, GBPUSD, and USDCHF.
In the US/Americas, the Dow declined by 0.7%, the S&P 500 and Russell 2000 also saw declines, while the Nasdaq advanced slightly. Canada’s TSX Composite and TSX 60 both declined, and Brazil’s Bovespa also saw a decrease.
In the energy markets, crude oil and Brent both decreased, while natural gas increased. Top commodity gainers included natural gas, palm oil, oat, and sugar, while top commodity losers included HRC steel, crude oil, palladium, and Brent.
Finally, in the bond markets, we saw changes in yields for Japan, the US, Bunds, France, Italy, Turkey, Greece, Portugal, Spain, and UK Gilts.
